Bad news for all you sadists out there.
It turns out Tim Syliva has not, in fact, signed a multi-fight deal with Strikeforce and he will not be fighting Daniel Cormier on Sept. 29, 2012, in Sacramento, California.
That's according to Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White, who refuted recent reports to the Underground.
Dana White reported exclusively to the Underground that Tim Sylvia would not be joining the Zuffa roster, under either the UFC or the Strikeforce banner. ... White said the signing was never announced, and that "long story, but yes, Tim is not with Zuffa."
According to various reports, there were definitely talks between Sylvia and Strikeforce to bring him in and let him be Cormier's final opponent before making the move over to the UFC.
It would seem they were close enough for major outlets to run reports but ultimately, a deal never came to fruition.
Now Sylvia can go back to running through the regional circuit while begging for another chance in the UFC and we can all wonder just who it is Strikeforce will rustle up to face Cormier later this year.
Thoughts?
