UFC on FUEL TV 4: "Munoz vs. Weidman" from the HP Pavilion in San Jose, California, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 22 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
If you thought Chris Weidman would completely and totally dominate Mark Munoz, finishing him in the second round with a sickeningly slick elbow while "The Filipino Wrecking Machine" was moving in on him, and not get awarded "Knockout of the Night" honors, well, you're silly.
Because he did. Of course.
For those of you who didn't bother to tune into the Facebook broadcasted preliminary card (shame on you!), you missed out on Alex Caceres putting in one hell of a performance in tapping Damacio Page via triangle in the second frame of their bantamweight battle.
The win didn't just save "Bruce Leeroy" his job, it also garnered him $40K for "Submission of the Night."
Finally, James Te Huna and Joey Beltran were awarded "Fight of the Night" honors for their thrilling, back-and-forth war of attrition that saw the former blast the latter for three rounds and 15 minutes to never get him to stop moving in. Beltran may not be brought back again but at least his toughness paid off.
For tonight.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FUEL TV 4:
Knockout of the Night -- Chris Weidman
Submission of the Night -- Alex Caceres
Fight of the Night -- James Te Huna vs. Joey Beltran
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
