Hey look, a mixed martial arts (MMA) fighter is injured and can't compete, imagine that.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will have to reshuffle its UFC on FOX 4 event scheduled for August 4, 2012 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, now that middleweight slugger Brian Stann has injured his shoulder and will be unable to compete against Bellator import Hector Lombard.

MMA Fighting was the bearer of bad news earlier today.

The "All American" injury comes not long after the promotion was forced to replace Vitor Belfort in the main event of UFC 147 after "The Phenom" broke his hand in practice. Thiago Alves, Jon Fitch and Thiago Silva are also recent victims of the injury bug, which now resembles something of a plague.

Just ask Georges St. Pierre.

The ripple effect of Stann's injury could do more than just spoil a high-profile match-up.

Lombard was in line to get a possible title shot by securing a highlight-reel knockout, something that may not carry as much weight if the UFC is unable to cough up a "name" replacement in time for the late summer showdown.

Stay tuned.

UFC on FOX 4 is expected to feature the recently announced light heavyweight bout pitting Ryan Bader vs. Lyoto Machida while Terry Etim vs. Joe Lauzon and Ben Rothwell vs. Travis Browne are also scheduled to hook 'em up in the "City of Angels."
