TUF 15 Live Finale medical suspensions and injuries for 'Ellenberger vs Kampmann' in Las Vegas

The Nevada State Athletic Commission (NSAC) today issued its list of medical suspensions for The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 15 Live Finale, which took place on Fri., June 1, 2012, from the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada.

The event featured a wide assortment of violent action, but it's looking like only two participants on the card are going to be seeing an extended layoff, and one of them is not who you would expect.

One of the obvious candidates is Pat Schilling, who dropped to 0-2 in the promotion and suffered a serious beatdown at the hands of UFC's youngest fighter Max Holloway in the featherweight division. He'll be out of action for at least 180 days due to right hand and right shoulder injuries unless cleared by a physician.

The big shocker was TUF 15 Live winner Michael Chiesa, who quickly secured a victory over Al Iaquinta with a first round rear naked choke, hardly having to throw a punch. He's also scheduled to be sidelined for potentially 180 days due to a possible left-hand injury.

Perhaps the left hand was ailing heading into the bout, as Chiesa had already fought twice in the previous three weeks while filming for the show.

While none of the other suspensions are too serious, main event winner Martin Kampmann will also be taking a much-deserved 45 days off no contact to recover from some serious facial lacerations at the hands of his opponent Jake Ellenberger.

Here is the complete list of TUF 15 Live Finale injuries and their medical instructions:

Martin Kampmann: Suspended 60 days (45 days no contact) for facial lacerations
Jake Ellenberger: Suspended 30 days (21 days no contact) for precautionary reasons
Michael Chiesa: Suspended 180 days for possible left-hand injury unless cleared by a physician
Pat Schilling: Suspended 30 days for precautionary reasons. Additional suspension 180 days for possible right-hand and right-shoulder injuries unless cleared by a physician
John Cofer: Suspended 60 days (45 days no contact) for facial lacerations
Chris Tickle: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for left-eye and lip lacerations
Sam Sicilia: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for lower-lip cut
Cristiano Marcello: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons
Jeremy Larsen: Suspended 45 days (30 days no contact) for precautionary reasons

Just a quick reminder: Fighters often return to action much quicker once doctors give them the green light. The lengthy suspensions are just a precaution in most cases.
