Yes, really.
Two former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) heavyweight hopefuls are set to lock horns at the end of the summer as Todd Duffee welcomes Jeff Monson to the Super Fight League (SFL) on Sept. 8, 2012 in Bangalore, India, according to the promotion's official Twitter account.
Duffee (7-2) was able to snap a two-fight losing skid by beating the brakes off Neil Grove at SFL 2 back on April 7. It was his first bout in over a year, having last succumbed to the Uber-knees of Alistair Overeem in the K-1 Dynamite!! show in Dec. 2010.
For Monson (46-13), the upcoming contest represents his fifth bout of 2012. A notoriously busy fighter, "The Snowman" is 3-0-1 since his unanimous decision loss to Fedor Emelianenko in Nov. 2011 and was just seen choking out Denis Komkin under the M-1 banner last week in Russia.
Also booked for SFL 4 is a 265-pound scrap that pits 2008 Olympic judo gold medalist Satoshi Ishii (4-2-1) against struggling heavyweight "Titan" Jimmy Ambriz (16-18-1). More bouts are expected to be announced in the coming weeks.
Stay tuned.
