Looks like Josh "The God" has been downgraded to mere mortal.

That's because the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) pinched the cyber-crook, who released personal information on Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White as a retaliation for the promotion's stance on anti-piracy bills SOPA (Stop Online Piracy Act) and PIPA (Protect IP), for his role in credit card fraud on Tuesday (June 26, 2012).

That's right, Mr. Free Trade is nothing more than a petty thief.

Kind of takes some of the wind out of the "Anonymous" sails that were floating in a sea of good will after the online community (mostly) rallied behind the message of Internet freedom.

The New York Times (via The Underground) has the grit and the gristle:

Mir Islam, known as JoshTheGod, sold stolen credit card information and had data on 50,000 credit card accounts, according to the United States attorney for the Southern District. He was arrested after buying cards from an undercover agent and trying to use one at an A.T.M. on Eighth Avenue in Midtown Manhattan.

Mr. Islam is accused of helping to operate additional forums, UGNazi.com and Carders.org, both of which were seized by the F.B.I. A lawyer for Mr. Islam declined to comment.

UFC.com was hacked by the "Anonymous" movement back on Jan. 22, taking visitors to the picture above.

According to JoshTheGod's Twitter account, he was perturbed about the shutdown of MegaUpload and impending SOPA bill, asking, "how does the government have more power than us people?"

In this case, it might be warranted.
