Strike while the Iron (Man) is hot.
Iron forges iron and as it turns out, it also forges pretty decent ratings for the FX Channel, who used the popular "Iron Man" movie as its lead in to the UFC on FX 4 event last Friday night (June 22, 2012) from the Revel Resort & Casino in Atlantic City, NJ.
The result was 'ratings increases across the board," according to the official release:
UFC on FX Fight Night 4 was up in all key demos vs. UFC on FX Fight Night 3: +32% in Adults 18-49 (921 vs. 697), +47% in Men 18-49 (722 vs. 492) and +20% in Total Viewers (1,306 vs. 1,086). The combination of UFC on FX and its lead-in Iron Man helped FX ranked #1 for the night in Adults 18-34 and Men 18-34, and #2 in Adults 18-49, Men 18-49 and Men 25-54.
Tony! Tony! Tony! (has done it again.)
"Maynard vs. Guida" averaged 1.3 million viewers, second only to UFC on FX 2: "Alves vs. Kampmann" (1.4 million) earlier this year. While nobody's uncorking the bubbly just yet, these latest numbers may quiet some of the talk suggesting a ratings free fall.
UFC on FX 4 featured Gray Maynard taking a split decision victory over Clay Guida in a bizarre main event while Spencer Fisher and Sam Stout finally completed their lightweight trilogy. In addition, Cub Swanson got himself into the mix by knocking out Ross Pearson.
