Oh look, another injury.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will have to reshuffle its UFC on FOX 4 fight card (again) scheduled for August 4, 2012 at the Staples Center in Los Angeles, California, now that lightweight submission specialist Terry Etim has been forced to withdraw due to injury.
That leaves Joe Lauzon, who's probably in a big hurry to erase the memory of his knockout loss to Anthony Pettis at UFC 144 in Japan, without a date to the big dance.
For now.
After the jump, "J-Lau" vents his frustrations via his official blog:
Today after one of my workouts, I checked my phone and had a missed call and voicemail. "Mr Lauzon... it's Joe [Silva], I don't usually have good news... give me a call back." And just like that, I scream a few obscenities at my boxing coach because I know. Terry Etim is out of the fight.
We spent a LOT of time breaking down tape, working VERY specific things for Terry Etim... for the second time. Terry and I were supposed to fight once before at UFC118 in Boston... but he broke his ribs in training and was forced to pull out. For whatever reason... Terry and I are just never going to fight. I wish him a speedy recovery and hope it's nothing too serious.
Expect a replacement to be announced over the next few days.
UFC on FOX 4 will feature the recently announced light heavyweight bout pitting Mauricio Rua vs. Brandon Vera while Ryan Bader vs. Lyoto Machida and Ben Rothwell vs. Travis Browne are also scheduled to hook 'em up in the "City of Angels."
