Remember all the way back in Sept. 2010 when news broke that former King of Queens star Kevin James was going to make a movie that prominently featured mixed martial arts (MMA)? And then in May 2011, news broke that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was going to allow the use of its brand for said movie?
Well here's the trailer.
The flick, entitled "Here Comes The Boom," stars James as a biology teacher whose school has faced drastic cutbacks, to the point that all extracurricular activities are cut to save $48,000. This leads James to valiantly offer his services to help raise the money to teach the kids some good. Or something like that.
So he watches a UFC show with his buddies and, upon learning how much the fighters made, hatches a plan to become a mixed martial artist. The movie is a feel good comedy with a good message that seems to paint the sport in a positive light.
Yippie.
Look out for cameos from Bas Rutten, Jason "Mayhem" Miller, and Krzysztof Soszynski. And be on the lookout for the movie when it hits theaters on Oct. 10 this fall. It should be a doozy, right?
