Tonight (June 16, 2012) on HBO, WBC Middleweight Champion Julio Cesar Chavez. Jr. will be back in action once again, taking on Ireland's Andy Lee in a 12 round bout for Chavez's belt.

Most recently, Chavez narrowly defeated Marco Antonio Rubio in a bout marred with controversy when it was discovered that no post-fight drug testing had taken place. Lee, on the other hand, defeated Mexican journeyman Saul Duran back in March.

The winner of this fight, barring any sanctioning shenanigans, will take on the man universally considered the best middleweight on the planet, Sergio Martinez.

MMAmania will have LIVE round-by-round coverage of the fight, starting with the HBO broadcast at 10:00 PM ET. Said show will begin with a replay of last week's Pacquiao vs. Bradley title fight.

Quick results and play-by-play after the jump.

Middleweight Championship: Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. def. Andy Lee via TKO at 2:21 of the seventh round

Round one:

About bloody time. Mania ate my round recap. It's 10-9 Lee for output and control.

Round two:

Lee working behind the jab, Chavez moving in occasionally with his left hook. Left uppercut from Lee. Another good left from Chavez. Nice straight from Lee initiates a solid flurry. Left to the body from Chavez, who avoids a left uppercut from Lee. Another good body blow from Chavez. More. Good left from Chavez upstairs near the end; we're all tied up. 19-19.

Round three:

Lee still working behind his jab. Clinch. Good left hand from Lee and a right from Julio. Nice short left hand from Lee is shrugged off. Inside work from Julio and a solid right upstairs. Right hook from Lee, who is then caught with a right. Clinch. Big left straight from Lee and then one to the body. Julio waves him on. Clinch. Close round, slight edge to Chavez. 29-28 same.

Round four:

Nice work in the corner from Julio. Lee doing good work to keep from getting pinned and lands a left. Nice three punches from Lee and a body shot that's called low. It wasn't. Big right from Chavez. Lee bounces a few short punches off Chavez's face and lands a good right. BIG uppercut from Lee, but he gets walloped with a couple left hooks. Big punches from Chavez in the corner but he eats a left. Right hook from Lee. Nice shots from Chavez at the end of a good round. Again, really close, but Lee had control for slightly longer. 38-38.

Round five:

And nobody called the fourth for Lee besides me. Anyway, Lee lands a couple good shots and Chavez does a little wiggle dance. Big left from Chavez and Lee egggs him on. Nice shots high and low from Lee. One-two from Chavez and Lee drops his gloves and taunts. Left from Chavez, Lee responds with two to the body. Nice right from Lee, Chavez lands a right. Another big right, followed by a hook and big uppercut. Solid body shot from Lee and a left upstairs. Another good round. 48-47 Chavez.

Round six:

Nice one-two from Lee. Hard clash of heads inside. Right from Chavez. Good left straight from Lee, who eats some thudding body blows in the corner. Right hook connects by Lee, as does a straight. More good body work from Chavez. Solid right from Andy Lee. Lee lands a body blow, Chavez lands some bigger ones. Nice shots from Chavez right at the end of the round. Damn, this is hard to score. 58-56 JCC Jr.

Round seven:

Lee still prodding with the jab, but eats a right straight in the corner. Big uppercuts from Chavez. Again; Lee can't let himself get stuck in the ropes like this. Couple short punches from Lee. Hard left and right from Chavez, who shrugs off the punches in return. Man, Chavez clobbering him and there's a big right. Lee seems to go limp on his feet and eats a handful of hard punches before Laurence Cole, in a surprising display of competence, stops it. Excellent night for Chavez; here's hoping he can finally pee after the fight.

Final Result:

Chavez, Jr. def. Lee via TKO
