"The thing is, to be honest, direct messages on Twitter, it's personal, it's private and I think it would be inappropriate to divulge that message. But, leave it to me to be inappropriate. The message said: ‘You are not hurt and we're re-matching. If it isn't real, send me a code tweet with the word ‘Lad' in it.' And, meanwhile, I was sitting in the doctor's office thinking he is scared to fight me again. Then another tweet came through later and it said, ‘Alright, conspiracy theory over. Get well soon.' So, ya know, 'Planet Chael' strikes again!"
-- Perhaps the rash of recent injuries in mixed martial arts (MMA) is all one big smoke screen for those "hurt" fighters to pick and choose more desirable match ups. Leave it up to one of the sport's more attention-starved stars to hatch such a conspiracy ... even if it's all just fantasy. We think. Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight top contender Michael Bisping told "UFC Tonight" about a recent, humorous series of direct messages he received from the always wacky Chael Sonnen, while "The Count" was receiving a consultation before going "under the knife." Bisping said the surgery is set to take place tomorrow (Weds., June 12, 2012). The procedure is supposed to take care of some loose bodies floating around in the knee area, as well as a torn meniscus. If all goes well, he should be fully rehabbed and back to training in three to four weeks, which is right around the same time Sonnen is expected to rematch Anderson Silva in the re-worked UFC 148 main event on Independence Day weekend. Is Silva really hurt? Is Bisping really healthy? Imagine the MMA madness if Planet Chael was really real. Or is it?
