"Go ahead and bet the house on [Shogun]. You don't have to believe me. Just watch, August 4th, check it out and then let me know what you think afterwards.... It's Shogun. After my last performance against Eliot Marshall, they're supposed to be counting me out. I'm supposed to be the underdog. I'm supposed to get my ass whooped. That's what's supposed to be happening, but it's not gonna go down like that come August 4th Ariel. It's not. I don't mind when I'm the underdog, when people are counting me out. That's when I perform at my best. It's been like that since high school, since college, since in-between. Every time someone counts me out, that's when I perform my best so I think that's why I'm so hyped too. Everyone expecting me not to do well."

-- So says UFC veteran Brandon Vera on The MMA Hour earlier today when asked for what he has to say to the people who don't believe in him anymore. "The Truth" will be headlining the upcoming UFC on FOX 4 main event against former UFC light heavyweight champion Mauricio Rua later this summer. Vera hasn't exactly had a warm welcome to the main event billing after a three fight losing streak saw him released from the UFC in 2011. Only a post-fight failed drug screening against Thiago Silva, which turned his loss into a no contest, allowed Vera to return to the promotion. The Alliance MMA fighter eeked out a unanimous decision victory over Eliot Marshall in his return to the promotion last October, but he was hurt on the feet and had his elbow badly damaged by an armbar in the process. Do you believe in Vera heading into his UFC on FOX 4 main event?
