Oh look, a former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winner fighting at a future TUF Finale card. Who woulda thunk it?
UFC matchmaker Joe Silva certainly would, as he's lined up a featherweight fracas for The Ultimate Fighter 15 Finale on June 1, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada, that should be fairly fun.
TUF 12 winner Jonathan Brookins will look to build on his first round knockout win over Vagner Rocha at UFC on Fuel TV this past Feb. 15 when he takes on Charles Oliveira.
The promotion announced the bout late last night.
Brookins earned the TUF 12 crown by defeating Michael Johnson in a thrilling lightweight showdown. He quickly made the decision to drop back down to the 145-pound division, though, and has since split a pair of contests.
Charles Oliveira has also been doing some bouncing around weight classes, dropping down to featherweight after running into quite a few headaches at 155-pounds. That includes a submission loss to Jim Miller, a no contest thanks to an illegal knee against Nik Lentz, and a technical knockout defeat at the hands of Donald Cerrone.
His reinvention a few pounds lighter started with an amazing calf-slicer submission victory over Eric Wisely on the UFC on Fox 2 preliminary card this past Jan. 28 in Chicago.
It's a perfect time for Oliveira and Brookins to tango. Kudos to Joe Silva.
TUF 15 Finale goes down on June 1 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas, Nevada, and will be headlined by a welterweight number one contender bout pitting Martin Kampmann vs. Jake Ellenberger.
