Invicta FC 1 results and LIVE fight coverage for 'Coenen vs Ruyssen 2' TONIGHT (April 28)

Invicta Fighting Championships debuts TONIGHT (April 28, 2012) at Municipal Hall in Kansas City, Kansas, with the premiere of the all-female fighting organization.

MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of Invicta FC 1 below, beginning with the live stream of the full card at 8 p.m. ET which can be viewed here.

The main event will be headlined by former Strikeforce women's 135 pound champion Marloes Coenen as she takes on French submission specialist Romy Ruyssen in a rematch over three years in the making. Ruyssen missed weight yesterday by nearly four pounds and Coenen never took her eyes off her throughout a very intense 30 second staredown.

Also on the card are former Bellator standouts Lisa Ellis and Jessica Penne as well as former Strikeforce title challenger Liz Carmouche, Olympic medalist Randi Miller and many, many more.

145 lbs.: Marloes Coenen vs. Romy Ruyssen

Round one: Coenen takes the cage center and is firing off a few jabs. Nice leg kick from Coenen and Ruyssen attempts an awkward spinning attack but it misses badly. Ruyssen throws some jabs and then presses Coenen into the fence looking for the takedown but Coenen is holding her ground thus far. They trade some short knees and Ruyssen grabs the fence to hold Coenen against it and throw knees and the ref deducts a point. Ruyssen throws a kick and Coenen fires off a nice right hand. Coenen pulls guard and Coenen throws a big elbow to the face. They go to the ground and Coenen drops some more short elbows. Coenen is now in half guard/sidecontrol and is dropping some elbows to the body. Conen is attacking with a choke and the ref stands them up, wow. Awful stand-up there. Ruyssen throws a body kick and Coenen presses her into the cage until the bell. 10-8 Coenen with the point deduction

Round two: Ruyssen presses forward with punches but Coenen blasts here with a big right hand to back her off. Ruyssen catches a front kick but can't do anything with it. Coenen presses forward and lands a nice left hand, pressing Ruyssen into the cage. Ruyssen jumps guard again and Coenen has her pressed against the fence, dropping big elbows. They reset and Coenen again pushes her into the cage. They spin around along the fence reversing position and Coenen snaps a nice short right hand. 10-9 Coenen

Round three: Coenen starts off with a nice right hand. Ruyssen throws a nice spinning back fist and then pushes Coenen into the cage. Coenen reverses the position and puts Ruyssen in the thai clinch, throwing a few nice knees. Ruyssen jumps guard again and she's attacking with a neck crank variation but Coenen seems to be fine. Ruyssen thinks about switching to a guillotine but Coenen slips out and then smashes her with a nice elbow. Ruyssen throws some right hands to the body. The ref separates them with one minute left and and Coenen just walks Ruyssen down until she's pinned against the cage. Coenen throws a nice left elbow and Coenen scores a nice takedown to put an exclamation point on the fight. 10-9 Coenen

Final Result: Marloes Coenen defeats Romy Ruyssen via unanimous decision (30-26 x3)

105 lbs.: Jessica Penne vs. Lisa Ellis

Round one: Ellis takes the cage center and Penne is likely looking to utilize her length. They exchange a quick flurry of strikes and Ellis presses forwards with a nice combination and a leg kick. Penne responds with a right hand and she blocks an Ellis head kick. Push kick from Ellis and Penne responds with a leg kick but Ellis scores a takedown landing in side control. Ellis attempts a guillotine but Penne escapes it, uses a whizzer to get to her feet and scores a big trip takedown. Penne is in half guard so far, dropping some short left hands. Ellis' eye seems to be swollen and Penne is trying to pass but Ellis retains full guard and she attacks with an armbar before exploding to her feet. Penne attempts a body lock takedown but Ellis scores a nice takedown of her own into side control. Ellis is on top but Penne showcases some nice flexibility to put Ellis in a crucifix from bottom.

Round two: Ellis' eye is a bit messed up here at the start of the round and Penne takes control of the cage center. Ellis attacks with a nice right hand that stuns Penne and Penne scores a takedown. Penne is on top here in half guard and she's looking to pass. Ellis retains full guard again but Penne is in control from top. Ellis throws some upkicks and she backs Penne off just long enough for Ellis to score a takedown. Penne and Ellis trade leg lock attempts and Ellis is still on top. Ellis drops a nice right hand and then an elbow but she's locked up in Penne's closed high guard. Penne brings her legs up even higher and she attacks with an omaplata but Ellis slips out and drops some right hands. Ellis turns up the intensity with some ground and pound and Penne attacks with an armbar but Ellis slams her head first onto the ground. Ellis is in half guard now and Penne sweeps her with 10 seconds left. 10-9 Ellis

Round three: Good striking exchanges early here and Penne cracks Ellis, busting open her forehead. Ellis is bleeding heavily but she presses forward and scores a huge slam takedown. Ellis is bleeding badly now. Penne attacks with an armbar but Ellis slips free and Penne is on top. Penne passes to mount and Ellis is in trouble. Ellis gives up her back and Penne starts dropping big punches and the ref puts a stop to it.

Final Result: Jessica Penne defeats Lisa Ellis via TKO at 2:48 of round three

135 lbs.: Liz Carmouche vs. Ashleigh Curry

Round one: Carmouche opens with a kick and then a spinning back fist. She scores a takedown quickly and passes to mount immediately. Curry has Carmouche's head trapped and Carmouche is just going to down on her body with punches from her free left hand. Carmouche switches to side control and starts dropping right hands and then she passes to mount again. Carmouche is pouncing away from top position just pounding on Curry. Carmouche has a very high mount and she's punching the crap out of Curry and the ref stops the fight. Too late of a stoppage in my opinion, but a stoppage nonetheless.

Final Result: Liz Carmouche defeats Ashleigh Curry via TKO at 1:58 of round one

135 lbs.: Kaitlin Young vs. Leslie Smith

Round one: Smith takes the cage center and Young throws a nice inside leg kick. Young snaps another kick and Smith is throwing a large volume of punches. Young throws a head kick but Smith catches it and leg sweeps her. Young thinks about an armbar but gives up on it. Young has a high guard and Smith is having trouble finding space to land punches. Young pops back to her feet and throws a pair of nice body kicks. Young connects with a nice overhand right and Smith fires back with an uppercut and a body shot. Young clinches and throws some wicked short knees and a big elbow. Huge body kick from Young and they trade hooks. Young connects solidly with a leg kick and a right hand and then an inside leg kick. Young's kicks have so much zip on them, they're landing heavily here and Smith seems to be slowing down from them. Smith fires back with a body kick. Big flurry of strikes from Smith and Young counters with a right hand. Smith again wades in with a flurry and Young throws a big body kick. Huge right hand from Young and Smith fires back with body kick. Nasty body kick from Young and Smith throws a big flurry of punches. They trade heavy punches on the inside and they throw down until the bell. 10-9 Young

Round two: Smith presses forward and throws a nice left hand. Young responds with an inside leg kick. Smith is being very aggressive with her punches early and Young has slowed down now. Young clinches and throws a big elbow on the exit. Young is dancing around on the outside and throws a big straight right. Smith's pace is terrific here and she's making Young play more defense than she'd like. Big body kick from Young and a nice right hand. Smith keeps pressing forward and she throws a pair of nice right hands to the body. Young lunges in with a right hand and Smith keeps the pressure on. Smith is throwing nice flurries and Young throws a big body kick. Nice right hand from Young and Smith backs Young into the fence throwing effective punches. Solid left hand from Smith and Smith turns it up in the final 10 seconds. 10-9 Smith

Round three: Smith keeps up the forward pressure and both ladies exchange heavily. Smith lands a big combination and Young has enough and shoots for a takedown, pressing Smith into the fence. Young scores a takedown but Smith somehow stays on top and drops some nice right hands from above to the body. Young throws up her legs looking for an armbar but she locks her legs together and Smith escapes it. Smith switches to an armbar of her own but Young gets on top and slips out. Young throws a big knee as Smith gets to her feet and they are back at it with strikes. Nice right hand from Young and Smith connects with a big 1-2 combination and a body kick. Young throws a heavy leg kick which staggers Smith. Big right hand from Young and Smith comes over the top with a right. Heavy body kick from Young and Smith throws a nice left which snaps her head back. We've got 60 seconds left and this round is still up for grabs. Big leg kick and then another from Young and Smith is limping. Heavy body kick from Young and Young turns it up in the final 10 seconds. Awesome fight. 10-9 Young

Final Result: The fight between Kaitlin Young and Leslie Smith is ruled a draw (28-29, 29-28, 29-29)

135 lbs.: Sarah D'Alelio vs. Vanessa Mariscal

Round one: D'Alelio takes the cage center and throws a left hand. D'Alelio presses forward and scores a takedown after a pair of hooks and immediately passes to half guard. D'Alelio drops some nice short left elbows from top position and passes to side control but Mariscal retains guard. D'Alelio takes Mariscal's back and she has both hooks in already with four minutes left. D'Alelio is just bigger and stronger. She postures up and is dropping some nice punches from behind and flattens Mariscal out temporarily. Big punches from D'Alelio and Mariscal is just defending. D'Alelio is thinking about a rear naked choke but Mariscal is defending. D'Alelio is wearing Mariscal down with some nice punches from behind. She tries to snake her arm through but Mariscal is defending well again. D'Alelio is glued to Mariscal's back here and Mariscal drops some nice elbows backwards. D'Alelio keeps the pressure with short punches and Mariscal survives to the end of the round. 10-9 D'Alelio

Round two: D'Alelio throws a nice right hand and Mariscal fires back. Both ladies are exchanging and D'Alelio connects with a heavy right hand. D'Alelio clinches but backs off. Big left hand from D'Alelio and Mariscal is on the offensive now, throwing aggressively. Push kick from Mariscal and D'Alelio catches it, taking her down easily. D'Alelio is on top in half guard and she drops some elbows to Mariscal's thigh. D'Alelio passes to side control and then to full mount. D'Alelio is dropping some big ground and pound and Mariscal gives up her back. D'Alelio keeps pounding away and she can get this fight stopped if she just keeps up with the offense. D'Alelio keeps punching from mount and Mariscal taps to strikes.

Final Result: Sarah D'Alelio defeats Vanessa Mariscal via submission (strikes) at 3:19 of round two

115 lbs.: Sally Krumdiack vs. Sarah Schneider

Round one: Krumdiack takes the cage center and aggressively throws with some power, landing a nice right hand. Krumdiack pushes Schneider into the fence and throws some big knees in the clinch. They exchange in the clinch and Schneider pulls guard, throwing her legs up with a high guard. Krumdiack is bleeding and Schneider locks in a triangle and rolls Krumdiack over into mount. Schneider switches to an armbar and Krumdiack either taps or the ref stops the fight. Nice finish by Schneider there.

Final Result: Sarah Schneider defeats Sally Krumdiack via submission (armbar) at 3:01 of round one

105 lbs.: Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc vs. Amy Davis

Round one: Rivera-Calanoc opens aggressively with some right hands and she pushes Davis into the fence looking for a takedown. Rivera-Calanoc grabs a single leg and scores a takedown. Davis throws her legs up and she's hunting for a triangle. She locks up her ankle behind her knee and she's got the position but Rivera-Calanoc has some space. Rivera-Calanoc presses forward trying to escape the submission and she pops out! Davis gets right back to her feet but Rivera-Calanoc closes the distance immediately and is hunting for a takedown again. Rivera-Calanoc throws tries to spin to gain position but can't. Rivera-Calanoc drops down and runs the pipe on a single leg takedown, dumping Davis on the ground. Davis throws some short hammer fists while sitting down along the fence and Rivera-Calanoc postures up and throws a couple punches. Davis pops back to her feet and eats a knee from Rivera-Calanoc and she throws a nice flurry of strikes to finish the round strong. 10-9 Rivera-Calanoc

Round two: They exchange some strikes early and Rivera-Calanoc pins Davis against the fence. Rivera-Calanoc spins out to try to surprise Davis and she gets back into the clinch working for a takedown. Rivera-Calanoc attempts to get a single leg but Davis reverses her and takes top position, dropping some heavy short strikes. Rivera-Calanoc still has a single leg and she's working for a takedown but Davis grabs an arm and rotates Rivera-Calanoc uncomfortable. Rivera-Calanoc's arm is right there and Davis grabs onto a Kimura and torques it until Rivera-Calanoc taps out. Nice finish there for Davis.

Final Result: Amy Davis defeats. Nicdali Rivera-Calanoc via submission (Kimura) at 3:47 of round two

125 lbs.: Sarah Maloy vs. Michele Gutierrez

Round one: Maloy comes out aggressively with a superman punch and whiffs with a jumping knee. Gutierrez is circling on the outside as Maloy stalks. Maloy throws a big right hand and Gutierrez fires back with a stiff left jab. Maloy throws a nice snapping leg kick and then a push kick and Gutierrez hasn't landed much offense thus far. Maloy throws a nice round kick to the head which is partially blocked. Maloy is definitely in control here. Nice front kick from Gutierrez knocks Maloy off her feet but she pops back up. Leg kick from Gutierrez whiffs as she's staying too far on the outside and not getting into striking range. Front kick from Maloy grazes and both ladies throw simultaneous front kicks before time expires. 10-9 Maloy

Round two: Maloy misses with a spinning back fist and Gutierrez throws a nice quick combination. The pace steps up as both ladies exchange strikes. They reset and Gutierrez is getting into range better now. Gutierrez lands a solid right counter which might have stunned Maloy. They trade more kicks and Maloy forces her back with a big right hand. Both girls throw huge hooks that knock them both down and Gutierrez recovers and swarms Maloy on the ground briefly before backing off and letting Maloy back to her feet. Maloy presses forward and Gutierrez cracks her with a left hand and Maloy surprisingly pulls guard. The second Maloy brings her legs up, Gutierrez backs off and lets her back to her feet. 10-9 Gutierrez

Round three: Maloy is pressing forward but Gutierrez is landing the better strikes. Maloy misses with a push kick and Gutierrez is trying to flash her jab but can't find the range. Maloy throws a jumping front kick but Gutierrez sidesteps it. Maloy drops down for a single leg but gets fended off easily. Maloy throws a nice leg kick on the outside. Not much action here this round and it's entirely up for grabs with 100 seconds left. Maloy lands a leg kick and Gutierrez is showing no urgency. Leg kick from Maloy and she throws a push kick at the bell. That round was tough to score due to ineffectiveness from both of them but I'll give it to Maloy based purely on aggression. 10-9 Maloy

Final Result: Sarah Maloy defeats Michelle Gutierrez via unanimous decision (29-28, 30-27, 29-28)

145 lbs.: Randi Miller vs. Mollie Estes

Round one: Miller closes the distance quickly and clinches with Estes, pressing her into the fence. Estes attempts to fend her off with an elbow and throws a knee. Miller throws some short right hands and Estes fires back with knees. Both ladies trade right hands and now Estes takes inside position, throwing a left knee on Miller and some nice left elbows. Estes is throwing some really good knees to the face and Miller finally reverses the position, pressing Estes into the fence and throwing a left hand. Miller throws some nice punches and Estes fires back with a pair of solid knees. Miller is leaving space and Estes is using it to throw some big knees. Estes is doing a great job of using a crossface to keep Miller at bay and they trade some strikes until the bell. 10-9 Estes

Round two: Miller drives forward, forcing Estes to back off but she can't get inside and scores a takedown. They clinch but Estes is creating space. Miller is thinking about a knee tap takedown but Estes reverses position and throws some knees in the clinch. Miller finally switches to a single leg but Estes steps over and takes her back. Estes is very high on Miller's back but she's too high and she transitions to an armbar. Miller's arms are very short though so Estes is probably going to have trouble with this. Now Miller is on top and dropping some big fight hands. Miller throw some heavy shots and she's on top throwing heavy punches to the body. Miller presses Estes into teh fence and throws some left hands. Estes turtles and is trying to get to her feet and Miller thinks about a submission but Estes escapes and pops to her feet. Miller pounds Estes with some heavy punches and attempts another takedown but Estes fends it off. Estes throws some nice knees to prevent the takedown and she's got Miller pressed into the fence and throws and elbow. Miller scores a takedown and passes to mount immediately, dropping huge punches on the ground until the final bell. 10-9 Miller

Round three: Miller is on her bicycle early and she's looking to land a counter knee on a takedown attempt. Miller backs Estes into the fence and clinches again, pinning her against the cage. Estes attempts a knee and Miller is really trying to get the takedown but she can't get it. Miller scores a single leg takedown with just over two minutes left. Estes is stuck on her back and Miller throws a nice elbow and then another. Big right hand from Miller and she's blasting Estes with huge right hands and the ref steps in and puts a stop to it.

Final Result: Randi Miller defeats Mollie Estes via TKO at 3:23 of round three

115 lbs.: Ashley Cummins vs. Sofia Bagherdai

Round one: Bagherdai lands a leg kick but Cummins grabs the leg and works for a takedown, eventually slamming Bagherdai to the canvas, landing in half guard. Bagherdai is looking for a guillotine choke but she gives up on it and Cummins drops some short hammer fists. Cummins postures up and throws a few nice right hands and backs off. Bagherdai pops back to her feet and Cummins shoots in again and she's got Bagherdai pressed against the fence hunting for a single leg but Bagherdai defends and throws a nice flurry. Bagherdai misses with a spinning back fist and the clinch in the cage center, trading some nice knees. Cummins presses Bagherdai into the fence and throws some short knees to the legs. They separate and Cummins shoots in, pressing Bagherdai into the fence again. Cummins puts Bagherdai down and drops some nice right hands on the way there. Bagherdai throws her legs up looking for an armbar and she backs Cummins off with some upkicks. 10-9 Cummins

Round two: Both ladies trade body kicks early and Cummins throws a solid combination, finishing it with a leg kick. Bagherdai throws a solid right hand but Cummins responds with a sneaky right hand. Cummins ducks a right hand and shoots, pressing Bagherdai into the fence in the clinch and hunting for a takedown. Cummins throws a knee to the body. Cummins scores a single leg takedown and passes to half guard, dropping some short left hands as Bagherdai battles for wrist control from bottom. Cummins isolates an arm and drops some good left hands, moving Bagherdai away from the cage and trapping an arm. Cummins postures up and drops some punches but Bagherdai defends and forces her back. Bagherdai gets back to her feet but Cummins immediately shoots in again for a takedown and puts Bagherdai on her back. Bagherdai has a high guard and Cummins throws some short punches until the bell. 10-9 Cummins

Round three: They stand early and trade some kicks with Bagherdai landing the better kicks early. Bagherdai goes over the top with a nice right hand and Cummins responds with a nice 1-2. Cummins is looking better with the punching and she counters a spinning back kick with a nice flurry and then presses Bagherdai into the fence looking for a takedown. Cummins gives up on the single leg, but clinches and tosses Bagherdai to the floor. Cummins can't find an opening on the ground and she lets Bagherdai back to her feet. Bagherdai throws a spinning back fist that's blocked. Cummins is the aggressor here, stalking Bagherdai and she lands a nice right counter and then a combination, finishing it off with leg kick which staggers Bagherdai. Another big kick from Cummins and and she catches Bagherdai with a nice right hand and a left at the bell.10-9 Cummins

Final Result: Ashley Cummins def. Sofia Bagherdai via unanimous decision (30-27, 30-27, 29-28)

105 lbs.: Cassie Rodish vs. Meghan Wright

Round one: No glove tap from Rodish and Wright throws some punches as Rodish clinches and pushes Wright into the fence. Rodish locks up a guillotine along the fence, and really squeezes it, pressing Wright's head awkwardly against her own chest and Wright taps out.

Final Result: Cassie Rodish defeats Meghan Wright via submission (guillotine) at 0:36 of round one
