Marloes Coenen vs Romy Ruyssen staredown pic and photo gallery from Invicta FC 1 weigh-ins

Invicta Fighting Championship (Invicta FC) is an upstart mixed martial arts (MMA) organization hoping to establish itself as the premiere league for elite women in the fight game. Its inaugural show will be held tonight (Sat., April 28, 2012) in Kansas City, Missouri, and will be headlined by former Strikeforce Champion Marloes Coenen taking on Romy Ruyssen.

The promotion is unique not just in the fact that it only features women's fights but that they don't do catchweight fights. That's because Shannon Knapp, she who runs the show, believes that's one of the biggest problems facing women's MMA.

That sounded good in theory but come weigh-in day, it was a disaster.

Four of the 22 ladies on the card missed weight, including Ruyssen, who weighed in nearly five pounds above the limit for her main event showdown against Coenen. Perhaps that's why "Rumina" won't take her eyes off her opponent in the above staredown pic.
