Impeccable timing.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has reportedly found a home for its upcoming UFC 147 pay-per-view (PPV) event on June 23, 2012, according to a report from Tatame.com, which pegs the Felipe Drummond Stadium in Belo Horizonte, Minas Gerais, Brazil, as the official venue.
And it comes just three days after UFC President Dana White yanked the headlining title fight between Anderson Silva vs. Chael Sonnen from the clutches of South America.
While "The Spider" rematch is now headed to "Sin City," Jose Aldo is likely coming home to his native land to fill the opening slot against Erik Koch, alongside previously announced bouts between Vitor Belfort vs. Wanderlei Silva and Fabricio Werdum vs. Mike Russow, among others.
And don't forget The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) "Brazil" live finale.
UFC 148 in Las Vegas became the new home for Silva vs. Sonnen after the promotion couldn't lock in a venue to support the demand that sort of marquee fight would require; however, word 'round the campfire also points to the safety and security of Sonnen, who managed to piss off the entire country over the past two years.
That might explain why he was the victim of aggressive reporters and electric pens.
We now know the when and the where, so it just boils down to a matter of who. Stay tuned to MMAmania.com for more updates to the UFC 147 fight card as they become available.
