UFC on FOX 3: John Dodson vs Tim Elliott booked for May 5 in New Jersey

Looks like John Dodson will be switching gears with less than a month to go.

That's because his original opponent, Darren Uyenoyama, has been yanked from the UFC on FOX 3 fight card scheduled for May 5, 2012, at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, NJ, and replaced with Zuffa newcomer Tim Elliott.

The promotion made the change on its official website, but failed to disclose the reason behind the switch.

Dodson (12-5) claimed The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 "six-figure contract," laying waste to Brandon Merkt, "Prince" Albert and Johnny Bedford. That set up a showdown against T.J. Dillashaw in last December's live finale, which he won in devastating fashion.

Can "The Magician" show off some new tricks as a flyweight?

Standing in his way will be Elliot (7-3), who's fresh off a submission win over Josh Rave at the Resurrection Fighting Alliance event just last month in Nebraska.

His win over "The Rage" made it eight straight for the Edmond assassin with seven of them coming to an end by way of violent finish. This could be a tough test for both combatants in "Dirty Jersey."

Who establishes themselves as the next big thing at 125-pounds?

UFC on FOX 3 will be headlined by a lightweight contendership fight featuring Jim Miller vs. Nate Diaz. The victor is widely-expected to move on to face the winner of Frankie Edgar vs. Ben Henderson, who rematch later this year.
