It's about to get "Filthy" up in Fairfax.
That's because Tom Lawlor has been booked for a middleweight mash-up against longtime mixed martial arts (MMA) veteran Jason MacDonald at the planned UFC on FX 3 event set for May 15, 2012, in Fairfax, Virginia.
The promotion confirmed the news we shared last week.
After coming up quick in his career with a 6-1 record and a stint in The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) house, Lawlor has fallen on some hard times, losing three of his last four fights. What's worse, he's competed just once in over a year.
Time to get back on the hog.
Standing in the way of that is Jason MacDonald, the 36-year-old Canadian who was most recently in action at UFC Fight Night 25 in Sept. 2011 in a losing effort against Alan Belcher.
In fact, he's dropped two his past three and considering his age and other factors, this could very well be a must-win fight.
Sounds like a good time.
UFC on FX 3 is set to take place on May 15, 2012, in Fairfax, Virginia, and will feature a light heavyweight rematch over a year in the making, as Thiago Silva will return from suspension to battle Brandon Vera. No word on whether or not that's the main event but of the evening but it would seem to make sense.
