Twitter strikes again.
Jason Miller recently asked mixed martial arts (MMA) fans to bombard UFC President Dana White with requests to give "Mayhem" another fight inside the Octagon despite the pathetic performance he turned in against Michael Bisping at the Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 Finale back on Dec. 3, 2011, in Las Vegas.
Apparently, it worked. That's because MMAWeekly.com brings word that Miller has been booked to square off against C.B. Dollaway at UFC 146 on May 26, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada, in a middleweight contest that will likely see the loser leaving town, pink slip in hand.
On his Twitter account, Miller is already vowing to show up a changed man:
"I won't gas. CARDIO. CARDIO. TIME TO TRAIN HARD. MEDITATE. ZEN. ... I won't let you down. #whateverittakes"
The good news is Miller was given his second chance. The bad news is the match-up isn't a favorable one.
Dollaway, of course, is the NCAA Division I wrestler with the ability to drag Miller to the mat and keep him there for 15 minutes. He'll have to dodge a few submission attempts, surely, but seeing as he's lost two fights in a row and his job is likely on the line here, don't be surprised to see him go back to his bread and butter.
Being exciting is one thing, remaining gainfully employed another.
Either way, both men are teetering on the brink and shall be quite fun to see who it is that fails to tip toe the line and goes flying off the edge into the dark abyss consisting of MMA outside the UFC.
Stay tuned!
UFC 146 is the promotion's annual Memorial Day weekend event scheduled for May 26, 2012, at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. The only bout booked for the card at this time is the event headliner, as Junior dos Santos is expected to defend his heavyweight title for the very first time against Alistair Overeem.
As always, stay tuned to MMAmania.com for future updates to this still-developing fight card.
