Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) recently announced two new additions to its upcoming FOX fight card, which is scheduled to take place at the IZOD Center in East Rutherford, N.J., on May 5, 2012.
A featherweight showdown between Dennis Bermudez vs. Pablo Garza and a bantamweight bout that pits Johnny Bedford vs. Nick Denis are now set for UFC on Fox 3: "Miller vs. Diaz."
Bermudez failed in his bid to win The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14 featherweight crown back in Dec. 2011, tapping out to a Diego Brandao armbar after a sensational, seesaw battle in the Finale fight of the eight-man tournament. Garza, meanwhile, was on a nice two-fight win streak inside the Octagon before emerging divisional powerhouse Dustin Poirer did him dirty with a second round brabo choke on the first-ever UFC on FOX broadcast.
On the flipside, Bedford and Dennis are both in the midst of back-to-back win streaks. "Brutal" Bedford scored a technical knockout over Louis Gaudinot in his most recent appearance at TUF 14 Finale, while "The Ninja of Love" used his elbows to knockout Joseph Sandoval at UFC on FX: "Guillard vs. Miller" earlier this year.
Something has to, and will, give in both bouts, which are scheduled for the mixed martial arts (MMA) event's "Prelims" under card.
UFC on FOX 3 will be headlined by a lightweight number one contender eliminator match between Nate Diaz vs. Jim Miller, while heavyweights Pat Barry and Lavar Johnson will also sling leather on the action-packed fight card. In addition, Josh Koscheck vs. Johny Hendricks will face off for a spot in the 170-pound pecking order.
