The UFC on FUEL TV 1 event taking place in Omaha, Nebraska, tonight (Wed., Feb. 15, 2012) saw a pair of undefeated heavyweights hook 'em up as Stipe Miocic threw leather with Philip De Fries.
The names may not mean a lot to casual fans and even some hardcores but the reality is we're talking about two big men who throw bombs. Eventually, someone falls down.
In this instance, it was De Fries.
That's because Miocic survived an early onslaught from the Brit to land a big straight right counter that he followed up with by running across the cage like a psycho while throwing hammers. Enough landed to nail the point home and the referee stepped in to give him the technical knockout win.
Wasn't much to this one, folks.
Perhaps most impressive for Miocic is the fact that he managed to battle through the adversity of being rocked early. He took a few hard shots on the chin but remained composed and came back to win after landing enough heavy shots of his own.
There was little grace and even less athleticism, but it was fun as all hell.
