Ben Henderson retains the lightweight championship after a five-round beatdown of Nate Diaz in the main event of the UFC on Fox 5: "Henderson vs. Diaz" event that took place tonight (Sat., Dec. 8, 2012) at the KeyArena in Seattle, Washington. Put simply, this was the performance of a lifetime from the "Smooth" one, who became the first fighter in UFC history to retain a title on network television. That means he reached a monster audience, even if the ratings come in with lower than expected numbers. He cut a blistering pace for 25-minutes of action, flustering Diaz and scoring points via punches, kicks, takedowns and submission attempts. This was a multifaceted ass whooping, a good old fashioned domination of one of the top 155-pounders in the UFC. What's next for Henderson? Who knows but he's a star after this one.
