MMAFighting.com shutterbug extraordinaire, Esther Lin, was still on the scene in Seattle, Wash., today (Dec. 6, 2012) at the final UFC on FOX 5: "Henderson vs. Diaz" pre-event press conference (full highlights, recap and video here), which was held at Seattle Center Pavilion at the KeyArena.
It was a relatively mild affair, with all main card fighters -- Ben Henderson, Nate Diaz, Mauricio Rua, Alexander Gustafsson, B.J. Penn, Rory MacDonald, Mike Swick, Matt Brown -- answering questions and showing respect for their opponents.
The most heated exchange, unsurprisingly, was sparked by Penn, who warned MacDonald that he better come prepared on fight night (Dec. 8, 2012) to back up his trash talk. Monotone MacDonald assured the "Prodigy" that he would indeed be ready, and that if he was only doing the same to prove to other people -- rather than himself -- that he still has gas left in his mixed martial arts (MMA) tank that he would end up getting "hurt."
I'll take what I can get from "Ares."
There were many other UFC on FOX 5-related tidbits, which you can watch and read all about right here, but perhaps none more notable than White announcing that the winner of the Rua and Gustafsson 205-pound bout would "definitely" receive the next Light Heavyweight title shot in 2013 against either division champion Jon Jones or his upcoming opponent, Chael Sonnen.
Oh, and White also had a little news to share about Ronda Rousey, who he bestowed a championship belt and revealed that "Rowdy" would headline the UFC 157 pay-per-view (PPV) main event opposite Liz Carmouche. Read all about that and more right here.
