Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) flyweight fighters Joseph Benavidez and Ian McCall have something in common. They were unable to defeat Demetrious Johnson and lay claim to the promotion's 125-pound strap. Now, they have something else in common, as well.
They're both fighting at UFC 156 -- against each other -- according to MMA Weekly.
Benavidez (16-3) lost a close split decision to Johnson after a five round title fight at UFC 152 back in September. It was just the third loss of "Joe Jitsu's" career, having been turned away by Dominick Cruz (twice) in bantamweight action earlier in his career.
Time to see if he's "Mighty" enough for another crack at the "Mouse."
That's easier said than done against McCall (11-3), who took the reigning flyweight champion to a majority draw during the division's mini-tournament last March. Things went from bad to worse in their UFC on FX 3 rematch, where "Uncle Creepy" was asked to leave the family after coming up short on the judges' scorecards.
Can he (and his mustache) find their way back to the promised land?
UFC 156 takes place over Super Bowl weekend (Feb. 2, 2013) the Mandalay Bay Events Center in Las Vegas, Nevada, featuring a 145-pound title fight pitting Jose Aldo vs. Frankie Edgar. In addition, Alistair Overeem (finally) returns to the Octagon to face fellow ex-Strikeforce heavyweight Antonio Silva.
