As expected, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) has a new date and time for the next season of its mixed martial arts (MMA) reality television show.
The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17: "Jones vs. Sonnen" is moving to Tuesday, and will make its season premier on Jan. 22, 2013 at 9 p.m. ET on FX Channel, according to a report from USA Today. Taking over as coaches will be UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones and unlikely division number one contender Chael Sonnen.
Filming began back in late October.
"The American Gangster" launched a Twitter offensive against "Bones" after the champ initially declined to fight the former middleweight on just eight days notice. Sonnen, who offered to replace the injured Dan Henderson at UFC 151, used that "business decision" to drag the champ's name through the mud.
I can only imagine what transpired once the cameras started rolling.
Following the conclusion of TUF 17, Jones will put his 205-pound title on the line against Sonnen at the UFC 158 pay-per-view (PPV) event from the Prudential Center in Newark, NJ, on April 27, 2013. Until then, they'll have to settle for daily duty as leaders of the new school, including the always-entertaining "coach's challenge."
And if "Jones vs. Sonnen" doesn't improve the TUF ratings, which recently hit an all-time low on FX Channel, nothing will.
