In arguably the greatest tournament of heavyweight kickboxers in history, Semmy Schilt was the last man standing earlier this morning (Dec. 31, 2012) in the Glory 4 16-man Grand Slam event from the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
Schilt did not have an easy path either as the towering Dutchman went into the second round against all three of his opponents in the round of 16, the quarterfinals and in the semifinals, defeating Brice Guidon, Rico Verhoeven, Gokhan Saki and Daniel Ghita in succession to capture $400,000 and the Grand Slam Heavyweight belt.
The victories over Saki and Ghita were particularly impressive as they were the number two and three seeds in the tournament respectively.

What did you make of the tournament this morning, Maniacs? If you missed it live, will you catch the replay on CBS Sports tonight? How did this 16-man tournament compare to the glory days of the year-end K-1 World Grand Prix?
