UFC 155 results: Joe Lauzon's cut from UFC 155 requires 40 stitches to close (Pic)

Yes, that is a legitimate number. Joe Lauzon was cut open by Jim Miller so bad at UFC 155 in Las Vegas on Sat., Dec. 29, 2012, that he required 40 -- count 'em, 40 -- stitches to close up the gash in his face. Here's the visual evidence. Warning: It's grisly.

USA TODAY Sports

Joe Lauzon had a rough night last night (Sat., Dec. 29, 2012) at the MGM Grand Garden Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. Not only did he lose a unanimous decision to Jim Miller in the co-main event of the evening, giving him two losses in his last three bouts, he also suffered a massive gash on his forehead just above his right eye.

One that required 40 stitches to close.

Yeah, that's pretty gnarly.

From his Twitter:

"40 stitches and a lot of lost blood... But I'm all good. Props to @JimMiller_155 on a great fight! #UFC155 ... Franken-Lauzon."

Indeed.

Perhaps cushioning the blow and making that wound a little easier to handle is the fact that Lauzon won his 11th bonus award for his war with Miller, which was awarded "Fight of the Night" honors. For that, "J-Lau" pocketed an additional $65,000.
