Urijah Faber vs Ivan Menjivar set for UFC 157 on Feb. 23 in Anaheim (Updated)

Urijah Faber will take on Ivan Menjivar, not Vaughan Lee, at UFC 157 from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on Feb. 23, 2012.

It's seems those Vaughan Lee rumors were indeed just that.

Former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) poster boy Urijah Faber was reportedly in talks to return to the Octagon to face off against Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight prospect, Lee, at the promotion's upcoming UFC 157 pay-per-view (PPV) event from the Honda Center in Anaheim, Calif., on Feb. 23, 2012.

Instead, "The California kid" will tango with Tri-Star disciple Ivan Menjivar in Orange County. Tatame brought word of the 135-pound match up earlier today (Dec. 3, 2012).

The fight will be a rematch of their initial 2006 encounter which saw Faber walk away with a disqualification victory after Menjivar landed an illegal kick to a downed opponent in the second round.

"The California Kid" hasn't seen the inside of a cage since coming up short to current UFC interim bantamweight champion Renan Barao at UFC 149 this past July. Menjivar, on other hand, is fresh off a first round submission victory over Russian prospect Azamat Gashimov at UFC 154.

One will be coming of an extended layoff, while the other will have a fairly quick turnaround.

UFC 157 is expected to feature a light heavyweight showdown between former champions and top contenders Dan Henderson vs. Lyoto Machida. The winner is widely-expected to be next in line for the winner of Jon Jones vs. Chael Sonnen, who clash in April.

Unless Alexander Gustafsson or Mauricio Rua can say otherwise this weekend on FOX.
