Sandy Hook school tragedy inspires emotional Pat Barry post-fight speech at TUF 16 Finale (Video)

After knocking out Shane del Rosario at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale last night (Dec. 15, 2012) in Las Vegas, Nevada, Pat Barry gave an emotional speech inspired by the tragedy at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut.

Pat Barry returned to the win column last night (Sat., Dec. 15, 2012) at The Ultimate Fighter 16 Finale in Las Vegas, Nevada, knocking out Shane del Rosario in the second round of their Heavyweight bout.

While his hand was being raised, Barry got emotional. When Joe Rogan asked why, he gave the following speech inspired by the tragic events that transpired at Sandy Hook Elementary School in Newtown, Connecticut on Friday when a demented shooter gunned down 20 students and six adults for no apparent reason:

"Man, it's been, it's a rough ride coming out here. Anybody who says they don't get nervous before a fight is a liar or they've never been hit in the head, man. It's just been a lot of ups and downs. I woke up yesterday to the worst text message I ever got about the incident yesterday. If you've got kids, hug them like it's the last day. Go hug your parents and go hug your best friends and if you have any beef with anybody and it's from 10 years ago and it's over nothing, man, tell them you're sorry and you love them because you never know what's going to happen, man. Joe, I really want to go home man. Rose, I'm coming home. I'm going to hug you for 15 hours straight."

Well said, and everyone here at would like to extend our condolences to those affected by the tragedy as well as send our thoughts and prayers to the victims and their families.
