Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) made its debut at the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre in Queensland, Australia, last night (Dec. 14, 2012) with UFC on FX 6: "Sotiropoulos vs. Pearson."
If you book it, they will come.
The Ultimate Figher (TUF) "Smashes" live finale drew 5,133 fans "down under," good enough for a $900,000 gate, according to figures released yesterday following the event, which was headlined by a lightweight fight pitting George Sotiropoulos vs. Ross Pearson.
"The Real Deal" won by third round technical knockout.
In addition, Robert Whittaker scored a "six-figure contract" in the welterweight division while Norman Parke took top honors at 155 pounds. Hometown hero Hector Lombard helped get things started on the main card by knocking out Rousimar Palhares.
Good times.
