Norman Parke is the very first Ultimate Fighter from the Ultimate Fighting Championship's (UFC) debut season in Australia, as he successfully took down a "Freak Show" in Colin Fletcher to win the lightweight final.
He did so by scores of 30-27, 30-27, and 29-28.
It wasn't much of a fight, not really. Parke utilized his superior grappling to drag Fletcher to the floor and overwhelm him with a top control game that stifled any and all prospective offense. It was an effective, albeit slightly boring, strategy that paid off in the form of making history.
Can't blame him for that.
On top of winning TUF "Smashes," Parke becomes just the third Irish born fighter to earn a UFC contract.
