The UFC on FX 6 main card tonight (Fri., Dec. 14, 2012) kicked off in Australia with a middleweight mash-up pitting veteran ass-kickers Hector Lombard and Rousimar Palhares. Both men came in looking to rebound from recent disappointing losses.
As expected, Lombard came out walking Palhares down, tossing those heavy hands with the deadliest of intentions. You hear that a lot but when he throws, it's legitimately like he's trying to chop a tree down.
In this case a Brazilian tree stump.
He landed a few big shots early but it was a hard left hand in a flurry halfway through the first that had Rousimar on the mat hanging on for dear life. "Shango" held on until a stand-up from the referee and went back to work once they reset.
His relentless blitz of right and left hands eventually got through "Toquinho's" defense and it wasn't long before Lombard's hand was being raised for a successful knockout victory.
That's win number one inside the Octagon. And what a win it was.
