Bellator Fighting Championships returns TONIGHT (Dec. 14, 2012) to the Horseshow Casino in Hammond, Indiana, with a heavyweight title fight and the season seven lightweight tournament finals.
MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of Bellator 84 below, beginning with the MTV2 telecast at 8 p.m. ET. In addition, we'll deliver up-to-the-minute quick results of all the undercard action much earlier in the evening (beginning at 5:00 p.m.) as well as a live stream of all the action.
Headlining the main event of Bellator 84 will be the season seven heavyweight tournament final between Russian striker Alexander Volkov and former light heavyweight finalist Richard Hale for the vacant heavyweight title. The belt is now on the line after champion Cole Konrad retired unexpectedly earlier this year.
Also on tap will be a lightweight tournament finale between Sportslab fighter Dave Jansen and Polish submission ace Marcin Held. Both men won a decision and scored a submission to make it to the finals.

265 lbs.: Alexander Volkov vs. Richard Hale
Round one: Volkov has the cage center early and Hale steps forward with a doubled up left hook. Mutual respect from both men to get things started and Hale lands a left hook. Kick from Volkov is faked and Hale steps forward with pressure but Volkov scores a trip takedown. Hale is active enough to force him to back off but Volkov kicks at his legs and dives back into his guard. Volkov backs off again and drops a right hand to the body and the ref stands Hale up. Hale steps forward with a combination but Volkov lands a sharp counter without taking any damage. They trade punches but neither man gains advantage. Right hand scores for Hale and he rocks Volkov with another huge right hand. Hale closes the distance and attempt a hip toss but can't get the finish as the bell sounds. 10-9 Hale
Round two: Hale is fighting a bit more aggressively to get things started but Volkov puts him against the fence adn throws some short knees to the body. Hale attempts a trip but Volkov uses his leg to attempt a takedown but Hale fends him off. Volkov works for a trip and he gets it this time but isn't able to do much, standing up and kicking at Hale's legs while Hale is on the bottom. The ref stands them up again and Volkov steps forward with a right hand but eats a counter right from Hale. Head kick from Volkov grazes Hale and they reset. Hale backs Volkov up and both men trade left hands. 10-9 Volkov
Round three: Both men really open up the striking early in the round and Volkov lands a solid right hand. Push kick from Volkov and both connect with left hooks simultaneously. Head kick lands for Volkov and Hale fires back with a left hand. Hale steps forward with a left but eats a left counter from Volkov. Push kick from Volkov and Hale fires back with a right hand counter. They trade and Volkov presses Hale into the fence and keeps him there until the end of the round. 10-9 Volkov
Round four: Hale is the aggressor early, stepping forward and making Volkov move backward but neither man is really taking initiative. Left hand counter scores for Volkov and he doubles up the left, landing it the second time. Hale comes inside and eats another left hand. Hale lunges in with a right hand but backs off, giving cage control back to Volkov. Leg kick from Volkov and then a body kick. Volkov steps forward with a left hand but Hale lands a left counter. Head kick from Volkov catches Hale but doesn't put him down. Volkov steps foward and lands a straight right and then a spinning back kick from Volkov lands right before the end of the round. 10-9 Volkov
Round five: Both men trade punches with some intensity early but Volkov settles into his groove again pretty quickly. Volkov working from the outside while Hale is trying to step forward and land a big bomb. Hale comes inside and eats a left hand. Hale has control of the cage center now but he's not cutting off Volkov's escape routes. Hale wings a left hand and Volkov responds with a body kick. Right hand scores for Hale which looks like it briefly stunned Volkov, but he recovers quickly and fires back with a left. Hale dives in and eats a pair of jabs from Volkov. Volkov backs Hale off with a head kick and snaps his head back with a left jab. They posture until the final bell. 10-9 Volkov
Final Result: Alexander Volkov defeats Richard Hale via unanimous decision (49-46 x3)
