It certainly didn't have the same mixed martial arts (MMA) "name" cache as its most recent predecessor earlier in the month, but Resurrection Fighting Alliance (RFA) staged another event last night (Nov. 30, 2012) from the Viaero Event Center in Karney, Nebraska.
RFA 5: "Downing vs. Rinaldi" wasn't littered with former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) castoffs this time around, but rather a pack of up-and-coming prospects who were lead by promising Featherweight standouts Jared Downing and Jordan Rinaldi.
The 145-pound bout would be contested for the promotion's first-ever Featherweight title, airing live on AXS.tv. And both men fought like there was something meaningful at stake ... perhaps more than just an RFA belt.
Rinaldi -- who was previously undefeated and boasts a submission over The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 14's Dennis Bermudez back in 2010 -- is a submission-savvy fighter who did everything he could to tapout Downing. "Demon Eyes," however, would have none of it, defending anything and everything in the early going to eventually dominate the action en route to a unanimous decision win.
And possibly consideration as a future UFC employee.
