Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Middleweight Fighter Nick Ring has come down with a last-minute illness, forcing him to withdraw from his UFC 154 bout against Constantinos Philippou, which was set to take place on the pay-per-view (PPV) portion of the card at the Bell Centre in Montreal, Quebec, Canada.
Ariel Helwani of MMA Fighting first reported the cancelation and shortly after UFC officials confirmed the bad news.
According to a tweet from Sportsnet's "Showdown" Joe Ferraro, Ring had a "disturbingly high fever which could not be controlled or brought down."
Quebec Athletic Commission doctors then made the decision to pull the Canadian from the card at the last minute.
It is unknown at this time if Ring and/or Philippou will receive their show money from the UFC.
With Nick Ring vs. Constantinos Philippou off the card, a lightweight bout between Mark Bocek and Rafael Dos Anjos has ben promoted from the "Prelims" on FX to the PPV portion of the card.
