UFC on FUEL TV 6: "Franklin vs. Le" from the Cotai Arena in Cotai Strip, Macau, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 18 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
Considering there was only one finish by way of knockout, it was obvious Cung Le's counter right hook of death on Rich Franklin would earn the extra cash. But if you witnessed the destruction, I'm not sure it would have mattered if every fight on the card ended by knockout, this was getting that bonus award.
It was that vicious.
"Submission of the Night" went to the only tapout on the card, Thiago Silva's head and arm triangle choke he pulled off against Stanislov Nedkov in the third round of their light heavyweight affair. This coming after he had been rocked and dropped in the previous frame.
Finally, Takanori Gomi and Mac Danzig were awarded "Fight of the Night" for their thrilling, back-and-forth war of attrition that saw the former look as good as he has in a long time against the latter, who simply couldn't withstand the sustained offense of "The Fireball Kid."
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FUEL TV 6:
Submission of the Night -- Thiago Silva
Knockout of the Night -- Cung Le
Fight of the Night -- Takanori Gomi vs. Mac Danzig
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
