DaMarques Johnson cut from UFC following submission loss to Gunnar Nelson

After three straight losses, including a submission defeat to Gunnar Nelson earlier this month on FUEL TV, UFC says goodbye to former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 runner-up DaMarques Johnson.

Three and out.

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) welterweight and former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 9 runner-up DaMarques Johnson has been released from his ZUFFA contract following a submission loss to Gunnar Nelson at UFC on FUEL TV 5 earlier this month in Nottingham.

From the "Darkness:"

I guess UFC President Dana White's position wasn't that interesting after all.

Johnson's most recent loss marked his third in a row and fourth in his last five outings. In addition, he was finished convincingly in each of those four defeats. Outside of consecutive wins in late 2009, he was never able to generate any kind of momentum in the promotion's stacked 170-pound division.

Anyone think he's Bellator bound?
