Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight Jeremy Stephens is finally getting his day in court. Well, probably the first of many days, depending on how this thing plays out.
"Lil' Heathen" was arrested last Friday (Oct. 5, 2012) by police in Minnesota, just hours before his scheduled fight against Yves Edwards at the UFC on FX 5: "Browne vs. Silva" event from the Target Center in Minneapolis. Stephens was picked up for an outstanding warrant stemming from a 2011 assault charge in Iowa.
Bail has been set at $100,000 and he gets in front of a judge today (Oct. 9, 2012) at 1:30 p.m. CT to face extradition, according to a report from MMA Fighting.
Representatives for Stephens released a statement yesterday with additional details regarding their client's arrest, maintaining they have "nothing to hide" from an investigation that probes a homecoming party gone awry because of (what else) intoxicated guests.
We'll have more on today's court appearance as details start to trickle in. In the meantime, you can get more background on this developing story here and here.
