Although it had some stiff competition from the mixed marital arts (MMA) debut of Dave Bautista last night (Sat., Oct. 6, 2012) Invicta FC soldiered on with its latest offering, the third of its short existence, "Penne vs. Sugiyama."
The main event of the evening saw Jessica Penne become the promotion's first ever atomweight champion with a sneaky triangle submission victory over the previously undefeated Naho Sugiyama.
In the co-featured bout of the evening, Shayna Baszler continued to impress with a second round submission win over the struggling Sarah D'Alelio.
Other action on the card saw Leslie Smith knock off Kaitlyn Young by TKO, and Tara LaRosa drop a unanimous decision to Vanessa Porto.
