UFC on FX 5: "Browne vs. Bigfoot" from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $40,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
The unheralded but dangerous Justin Edwards took home "Submission of the Night" honors by laying waste to veteran hand Josh Neer with a deep guillotine shortly into their welterweight showdown.
The visual of "The Dentist" waking up on his knees to a referee explaining the situation was worth the money alone.
Former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Finalist Michael Johnson got a little extra cheese to pay the bills with by making a stunning comeback from a disastrous round one to clock Danny Castillo and finish him in round two.
Finally, featherweights Diego Nunes and Bart Palaszewski were awarded "Fight of the Night" honors for their thrilling, back-and-forth war of attrition that saw "The Gun" nearly finish his foe multiple times only to see "Bartimus" come charging back late.
Nunes would ultimately hold on to put his name back in the discussion at 145-pounds. His pockets will be heavier when he gets there, too.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC on FX 5:
Submission of the Night -- Justin Edwards
Knockout of the Night -- Michael Johnson
Fight of the Night -- Diego Nunes vs. Bart Palaszewski
Again, each fighter received $40,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
