Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) was expected to feature a lightweight fight of Jeremy Stephens vs. Yves Edwards on the televised portion of its UFC on FX 5: "Browne vs. Silva" fight card, which gets underway in just a few hours from the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

That bout is now in jeopardy, according to a report from MMA Junkie:

According to a Minneapolis Police Department representative, Stephens was arrested at the Marriott City Center Hotel, which is this week's UFC host hotel, and arrived at the Hennepin County Public Safety Facility at 10:44 a.m. CT local time. It's currently unknown when Stephens is scheduled to be released from the facility.

This is a mighty blow to a fight card already reeling from the cancellation of a 155-pound showdown between Dennis Hallman vs. Thiago Tavares, after "Superman" was unable to make weight and subsequently released from the promotion.

According to the report, "Lil' Heathen" was detained for an out-of-state felony charge and is being held without bail; however, the specifics of his arrest are not known at this time. We'll bring you all the relevant details just as soon as they're made available.

Update from UFC President Dana White:

There you have it.
