Jon Jones will 'definitely' move up to heavyweight, eyeing end of 2013

UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones has made his feelings known about a potential move to the heavyweight division. Check out when he plans to make the jump inside.

While the seed was planted a long, long time ago by UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones, it seems to finally be on the verge of coming to fruition.

"Bones" has been discussing a potential move up to the heavyweight division for a while now. He's got two brothers who play defensive line in the NFL after all. That being said, it had all been some mysterious date in the future.

Until now.

Last night during a MetroPCS chat with the fans, Jones actually gave some specific about his prospective move to the heavyweight division. Here's what he had to say:

"I'll definitely move up to heavyweight But it'll probably be around 2013. Maybe at the end of 2013. Right now I have a nutritionist and I'm starting to take the career a lot more serious than I used to so my weight cuts are getting a lot easier. I walk around a lot thinner naturally so right now I'm about 225, a 20 pound weight cut. That's really easy. I might look bigger than everyone else I'm fighting but I'm really not."

Jones has torn through the UFC light heavyweight division, defeating the likes of former champions Mauricio Rua, Quinton Jackson, Lyoto Machida, Rashad Evans and most recently Vitor Belfort. He's next slated to square off against Chael Sonnen next April following the conclusion of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season 17.

Of course, in typical Jones fashion, as quick as he lit the fire in fans hearts, he quickly shut the door on a potential super fight against current UFC Heavyweight Champion Junior dos Santos.

"Someone asked me about fighting Junior dos Santos. He's a heavyweight right now. I'm a light heavyweight. I'm doing well at light heavyweight right now, no reason to change it up. If it's not broke don't fix it."

No word on whether his opinion on fighting dos Santos will affect his planned move to the heavyweight division.

So what's your take on this revelation, Maniacs?

Will Jones follow through and bump up a weight class at the end of 2013? If wins every fight up until that decision is made, would you grant him an immediate title shot at 265?
