Alistair Overeem's suspension comes up at the end of December of this year, coincidentally around the same time Junior dos Santos will defend his heavyweight championship against Cain Velasquez in the main event of UFC 155 on Sat., Dec. 29, 2012, in Las Vegas, Nevada.
It's expected "The Reem" will receive an immediate title shot upon his return to action. But who will that be against?
For his money, the "Demolition Man" tells MMAInterviews.tv (via FightCove.com) he believes he'll be squaring off against Cain Velasquez when the time comes:
"I think Cain is going to do good in this next fight. I think he might even get the belt. I think he's going to get the belt. I thought so the first time then he lost the belt, but I think this time could be different. I would not be fighting dos Santos for the belt, but then Cain."
For that to happen, Velasquez would have to take care of business against the man who took the title from him back at UFC on Fox 1 in November of 2011, the very first network television broadcast from the world's largest fight promotion. That means many eyeballs will be on the rematch, eager to see if the outcome will be similar.
Overeem doesn't think it will. Do you?
