Oh, Canada.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) President Dana White once called it the new mecca of mixed martial arts (MMA) because of how popular the sport has become up north. In fact, most of the North American records for an event were set there when UFC 129: "St. Pierre vs. Shields" invaded the Rogers Centre in Toronto, Ontario.
That's probably why the promotion is targeting "The Great White North" for up to five events in 2013.
That's the word from Director of Operations in Canada, Tom Wright, who told UFC Central Radio (via MMA Weekly) about future plans for next year.
"We're not that far away from announcing our full 2013 schedule. I can tell you that there's going to be at least four events in Canada. There's going to be at least two cities that may surprise a few people when we come out with our schedule and right now we're looking at an additional three. So a total of five events in Canada for 2013."
On top of all that, it was also reported that a season of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) is possible, which would obviously culminate with a live Finale fight card.
The promotion will hit up Montreal, Quebec next with its UFC 154: "St. Pierre vs. Condit" event, scheduled for just next month on Nov. 17, 2012, at the Bell Centre.
