I guess we know which one of these parts was the winner.
Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones will defend his 205-pound strap against Chael Sonnen, who not only talked his way into a future title fight, but also a coaching spot on The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) 17, effectively ending Daniel Cormier's bid for reality show superstardom.
Looks like we'll finally get that UFC 151 main event, after all.
These two have been jawing at one another on Twitter ever since Jones declined to fight the former middleweight on just eight days notice. Sonnen, who offered to replace the injured Dan Henderson, used that "business decision" to drag the champ's name through the mud.
Just imagine what he'll do once the cameras start rolling.
TUF 17 will begin shooting on Oct. 29, 2012 and is expected to debut the following January, according to a report from L.A. Times. At the conclusion of what should prove to be a wildly entertaining season, Jones and Sonnen will hook 'em up on pay-per-view (PPV) on April 27 at a location to be named.
And if this doesn't improve the TUF ratings, which recently hit an all-time low on the FX Channel, nothing will.
With his reassignment for "Bones," the "American Gangster" will no longer be fighting Forrest Griffin at the UFC 155 pay-per-view (PPV) event scheduled for Dec. 29 in Las Vegas, Nevada. Expect Griffin's replacement to be announced in the coming days.
Well Maniacs, are you excited for this news? Or do you feel it "sets a bad precedent?"
