UFC 153: "Silva vs. Bonnar" from the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, has officially wrapped, which means it's time for those select fighters who went above and beyond in their respective fights to get a little extra grease for their efforts.
To the tune of $70,000 each.
The promotion dished out its standard post-fight monetary bonuses to four out of the 20 fighters on the card, and it's probably no surprise who's headed home with a second sack of simoleons.
If you didn't bother to tune into the preliminary card broadcast on FX, you missed the "Knockout of the Night," a stunning come-from-behind victory from Rony Mariano Bezerra, who took all Sam Sicilia had and fired back with bigger shots to get the finish.
"Submission of the Night" went to Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira because let's be real: if the legendary "Minotauro" scores a submission, this one an impressive armbar of Dave Herman, and does it in his home country no less, you give him the bonus.
That's just that.
Finally, and hold on to your butts here, Jon Fitch and Erick Silva were awarded "Fight of the Night" for their thrilling, back-and-forth war of attrition that saw the former survive several tough spots from the latter to eventually wear him down and overwhelm the promising prospect en route to a unanimous decision win.
And it wasn't boring at all.
Here are the special fight bonuses for UFC 153:
Submission of the Night -- Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira
Knockout of the Night -- Rony Mariano Bezerra
Fight of the Night -- Jon Fitch vs. Erick Silva
Again, each fighter received $70,000 extra for their performances in addition to their respective base salaries, which we will pass along as soon as possible.
