The co-main event of the UFC 153: "Silva vs. Bonnar" event tonight (Sat., Oct. 13, 2012) at the HSBC Arena in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, featured the return of legendary heavyweight submission specialist Antonio Rodrigo Nogueira taking on the man who doesn't believe in jiu-jitsu, Dave Herman.
Fitting for "Minotauro's" return home, right?
He tried to make it a welcome homecoming with an early takedown and submission attempt but instead of ended up getting the reverse. In fact, it was Herman who got "Big Nog" down and advanced position.
Once they went back to their feet, though, the Brazilian worked his boxing game and that worked wonders. It won him the round and got him to the second, where he immediately rocked "Pee Wee" and got on top to work his submission game.
A kimura didn't work after it looked like it was in tight. Then he rolled for a straight armbar but Herman defended well on that one too.
He was only a matter of time until Nogueira got him down again and worked restlessly for another armbar. Herman rolled and rolled and rolled and rolled but eventually succumbed to the inevitable.
Tap, tap, tap-a-roo.
