UFC 'Macao:' Hyun Gyu vs David Mitchell booked with Marcelo Guimaraes injured

Marcelo Guimaraes, a fighter whose hype train was recently dinged thanks to an underwhelming win over Dan Stittgen, has had to withdraw from his scheduled bout with Korean prospect, Hyun Gyu Lim. It now appears that David Mitchell will fill in for the Brazilian on just four weeks notice in Macau, China.

At UFC on Fuel TV 6, Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) will venture into China for the first time ever at the Venetian Macau Resort Hotel in Macau on Nov. 10, 2012.

In "Prelims" under card mixed martial arts (MMA) action, Marcelo Guimaraes was supposed to welcome Hyun Gyu Lim to the Octagon. However, now it appears that the honor will fall to David Mitchell instead because Guimaraes has reportedly withdrawn from the fight for an unspecified reason.

MMA Opinion brings word of the switch:

In agreeing to this bout Mitchell takes a huge risk. Not only is he coming in on just four weeks notice, but he has not competed in more than one year. In addition to the ring rust, Mitchell will also take on one of Korea's top prospects, facing off with the incredibly lanky and well-rounded Lim.

Having already gone winless (0-2) in the UFC with respective losses to T.J. Waldburger and Paulo Thiago, his back is clearly up against a Great Wall.

Lim, as already mentioned, is a very hot prospect who trains out of the same camp that has produced top featherweight, Chan Sung Jung. He most recently made news for claiming to tapout UFC commentator Joe Rogan in training, but he is most well known for his devastating knockout victories, accounting for seven of his 10 wins. Lim will undoubtedly look make a statement in his UFC debut, potentially making a splash in the Welterweight division.

Leading the charge for the promotion's landmark Asian event is a Middleweight match-up that pits former division kingpin Rich Franklin against ex-Strikeforce 185-pound champion Cung Le. In Light Heavyweight action, Brazilian banger Thiago Silva will try to crack the cranium of Bulgarian bruiser Stanislav Nedkov.
