UFC on FOX 2 results and LIVE fight coverage for 'Evans vs Davis' on Jan. 28 in Chicago

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is set to light the fuse on its encore network televised fight card TONIGHT (Sat., Jan. 28, 2012) from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois.

UFC on FOX 2 will feature a light heavyweight match up between former division champion Rashad Evans and undefeated prospect Phil Davis. The co main event will feature a middleweight number one contender eliminator match between Chael Sonnen and Michael Bisping, while another 185-pound showdown between Demian Maia vs. Chris Weidman will round out the televised main card.

MMAmania.com will provide LIVE blow-by-blow, round-by-round coverage of UFC on FOX 2, beginning with the "Prelims" bouts on Facebook/FUEL TV scheduled for 5 p.m. ET. Rashad Evans vs. Phil Davis (205-pound limit)

Round one: Leg kick early from Davis. Evans misses a big right. Good leg kick from Davis and a right. High kick from Davis. Good hard leg kick from Davis. Big leg kick again from Davis and he slips right into a tie up with Evans. Right hand on the break from Davis. Davis shoots for a double and Evans catches it and has a front end head lock now. Davis up and eats a glancing punch. Another shot from Davis nothing there and then a right hand. Leg kick from Davis. Good combo from Evans. Superman punches and take down attempt both missed by Davis and now their tied up against the cage. Jab from Davis. Leg kick from Davis is caught by Evans and he gets a take down! Evans looking to advance from his half guard position. Now Evans into side control! Evans now with the mounted Crucifix position!!! Good punches from Evans. Davis is now out now but still in side control. That is the bell and Davis looked better on the feet but Evans stole the round on the ground. 10-9 Evans.


Round two: Davis misses a HUGE head kick. Good right from Evans. They tie up and a knee to the body from Davis. Jab from Evans and inside leg kick from Davis and another leg kick from Davis. Jab from Davis. Now their tied up in the center of the cage and Evans lands a knee on the break to the gut of Davis. Good right hooks from Rashad as he backs Davis in the cage and into a tie up. Evans with good rights on the break. Body kick from Davis. Right from Davis. Good hard combo from Evans. Nice knee to the chest from Davis. Now their tied up agains the cage and both men trade punches. Body kick from Davis caught and Evans jumps right into side control and lands a couple elbows. Nice short elbows from Evans at the bell, and another round for the former champ. 10-9 Evans.


Round three: Nice leg kick from Davis and a couple body kicks from Davis. Shot from Davis is stuffed and now Evans has a front head lock as Davis tries to grab a hold of a leg for a take down. Davis gets a brief take down but not in a dominant position. Davis tries for the back and now Evans reverses to get the dominant position and is now landing some solid punches. Evans now has the back with both hooks in. Davis shakes him off and is now back to his feet and in a tei up against the cage. Nice knee to the head from Davis. Good punch from Evans. Good uppercut form Evans and now Davis drops to his knees to get a take down and Evans just lands more punches which forces Davis to get back to his feet. Good uupercut and combo against the cage. Good right from Evans. Davis with a take down out of desperation after he begins to bleed from his mouth. Evans scrambles back to his feet and Davis has a hold of Evans back and is landing knees to the thigh now. That is the bell and a closer round but this one still goes to Evans despite being taken down. 10-9 Evans.


Round four: Front kick from Davis. Jab from Evans. Jab from Evans. Nice body kick from Davis. Good right from Evans and then a double and tripple jab. Davis with a decent combo and counter right from Evans. Jab from Evans. Good right from Evans. Nice jab from both men. Jab from Evans and then a good quick combination. Evans grabs a hold of a front head lock and walks Davis into the cage. Davis drops down for a take down and there is a scramble and Evans avoids and now their tied up against the cage. Now their on the ground and Evans in the dominant position with a hold of Davis's back. Davis gets back to his feet now and their tied up against the cage. Now they break. Big right hand from Evans and then a good uppercut sends Davis reeling backward. The bell rings and Evans might sweep every round in this fight. 10-9 Evans.


Round five: Nice left hook from Evans. Leg kick from Davis and another. Jab from Evans. Left hook from Evans. Body kick caught and Evans lands some big uppercuts and then a right hand that sends Davis to the mat. Evans pounces but Davis now with good defense on the ground thus far. Evans looking to move into side control now and he does. Evans right into the mounted crucifix position again but he rolls out and Evans now has the back. Davis back to his feet. Good right from Evans. Jab from Evans. Good right hand from Evans. Nice leg kick from Davis caught and their on the ground only briefly and Davis right back up. Davis misses a head kick both men trade jabs. Good right from Davis and jab from Evans. Good right from Evans and both men trade punches at the bell. Evans looked dominant all night. 10-9 Evans.

Final result:

Chael Sonnen vs. Michael Bisping (185-pound limit)

Round one: Sonnen bursts out of the gate lands a right Bisping counters and Sonnen with a take down. Bisping back to his feet and lands a right and now Sonnen is back to tying things up against the cage. Bisping backs off lands a good right but Sonnen pushes forward again and gets another take down against the cage. Sonnen with some good punches while Bisping is getting back to his feet. Sonnen with a good combo and now their teid up against the cage again. Bisping looks calm but Sonnen doing the majority of the damage thus far. Good combo from Bisping on the break. Sonnen ducks under for another take down but cannot close the distance quick enough to get the take down. Sonnen lands a funky right that wobbles Bisping. Now Bisping lands a good hard combo that stops Sonnen in his tracks. Good Bisping combo at the bell. This round was EXTREMELY close could go either way ill lean toward Sonnen for his take downs. 10-9 Sonnen.


Round two: Good hard left from Bisping to start. Left from Sonnen. Sonnen ties things up against the cage once again. Bisping now in control against the cage and stops a trip take down from Sonnen. Good short punches from Bisping against the cage now. Good left from Sonnen and then a right. Sonnen shoots for his power double leg and gets the take down against the cage. Punches now from Sonnen on top and Bisping is bleeding from under his left eye now. Sonnen peppering in some punches and dominating the positioning. Big right hand from Sonnen and then he lands a great combo with Bisping getting to his feet. Now Bisping lands some good punches including big hard left hand that wobbles Sonnen. Now their tied up against the cage once again. Knee to the body from Bisping. Bisping stuffed going for a single leg take down. Good short elbow from Bisping against the cage. Both men trading big punches at the bell and another close round. This one might lean towards Bisping. 10-9 Bisping.


Round three: Left from Sonnen. Duck under power double take down from Sonnen and now he is on top in the dominant position. Full guard for Bisping. Sonnen working hard to improve position but Bisping has some really good defense off of his back. Sonnen working in some punches but nothing with any power on it. Sonnen postures up for a punch and Bisping tries to get up but he gives up his back and Sonnen pounces! Sonnen with both hooks in now and Bisping is in some serious trouble!! Sonnen now walks over and has the full mount! Good body punches from Sonnen now. Bisping now hip escapes and gets into half guard avoiding big damage while being mounted. Sonnen with some good punches from the top by Sonnen. Bisping back into full guard and now Bisping hip escapes and is walking up the cage. Sonnen is holding on now and looking for the back once again but Bisping is back to his feet. Bisping now gets a take down right at the bell. Sonnen dominated that last round and although the 1st two rounds could be toss up's for either man I think Sonnen might sneak away with a very close victory. 10-9 Sonnen.

Final result: Chael Sonnen defeats Micheal Bisping via Unanimous Decision

Chris Weidman vs. Demian Maia (185-pound limit)

Round one: Weidman moving well pushing forward. Nice big left hook from Weidman lands and Maia trips during the tie up afterward. Maia looking for his own big left hand. Good knee to the head from Maia. Straight right from Weidman. Another knee to the head from Maia and right from Weidman. Good left hand from Maia lands hard. Good one two combo from Weidman. Right then body kick from Weidman and then a left hook. Nice leg kick from Weidman. Left from Maia and uppercut from Weidman. Good right and then a double leg take down off of it for Weidman. Maia works his way top his feet. Weidman lands a left. Things tie up and nice knee from Maia. Right from Weidman. That is the round and Weidman controlling the action thus far. 10-9 Weidman.


Round two: Jab from Weidman. Weidman ducks under a lazy left and gets a take down! He falls into side control, but Maia gets to his feet. Jab from Weidman. Leg kick from Weidman. Good left from Maia. Hard body shot from Weidman and then a left from Maia. Good body shot from Weidman and this pace of this fight has slowed to a crawl. Good left from Maia. Both men trade leg kicks. High kick from Weidman. Jab from Weidman. Weidman ducks under and is going for a double leg take down as he pushes Maia into the cage. Two good knees to the head from Maia then a solid left and a good knee. Weidman grapples and gets a good trip take down. Weidman now gets the back briefly and then goes for a guillotine as the bell rings. Another round for Weidman. 10-9 Weidman.


Round three: Knee to the body from Weidman. Maia with a knee of his own. Good leg kick from Weidman. Weidman now charges forward and gets another take down up against the cage this time. Butterfly guard for Maia. Maia now gets back to his feet and goes for his own take down. Good uppercut from Maia. Nice one two combo from Weidman. Maia with a sloppy take down attempt and Weidman briefly brings him to the mat. Now their back up and both men trade knees. Weidman stuffs a take down and now he has the back fo Maia but Maia is out and up. Good right from Weidman and another. Jabs from Weidman. Good knee now from Maia. Nice left from Maia. Nice knee to the head from Weidman and two more to boot. Jab from Weidman. Jab from Weidman after a knee. Right from Weidman and both men are gassed out at this point, Weidman understandably after his short notice on this fight. Good sloppy punches from Weidman. Head kick from Weidman. That is the bell and it should be a victory albiet not an impressive one from Weidman. 10-9 Weidman.

Final result: Chris Weidman defeats Demian Maia via Split Decision

Evan Dunham vs. Nik Lentz (155-pound limit)

Round one: Dunham with the head kick attempt, partially blocked. Lentz throws a head kick of his own that misses. Lents gets the underhooks and takes him down, grabs hold of his neck but Dunham gets back to his feet almost right away. Lentz with the good inside leg kick. Lentz ducks under a punch and lands a right to the body. Dunham with a high kick that hits the arm of Lentz. Lentz rushes forward and pushes the pace. He ties him and then lifts him in the air slams him. Lentz has his neck, but Dunham able to take advantage and get back up. The action is against the cage now. Good body kick by Lentz. Two minutes left. Another good body kick by Nik Lentz. Dunham goes for a standing guillotine but Lentz is out quickly, takes him down and Dunham escapes (all in a manner of seconds). Very fast pace so far. One minute left in a very even round to this point. Dunham shoots and gets the double leg takedown. Dunham working inside Lentz's full guard. Lentz doing a good job of controlling his wrists and is able to avoid any significant damage. 10-9 Lentz.

Round two: Dunham comes charging in, throws a flying knee and a straight right hand, followed by a takedown. Full guard for Lentz. Dunham passes into half guard, then pushes away from the fence. Lentz, very active from the bottom, making it difficult for Dunham to do anything. Lentz gets up briefly but is taken right back down. Lentz finally is able to get back to his feet. Dirty boxing from both guys now as the fight goes to the fence. Dunham backs away and eats an inside leg kick. Fighters exchange punches as Lentz appears to get the better of things. Dunham ties him up, going for a front headlock but can't control him. Dunham with a good right to the head. Lentz shoots and misses and is nailed with a punch in the face, followed up by Dunham pouncing on him. Lentz, on his back, is hit with some ground and pound by Dunham, who is now going for a north-south choke! Lentz defends and is safe, for now. Just over a minute left. Both fighters are bleeding from multiple spots on their respective faces. Dunham starts to go for a choke but rears back and throws several big punches instead, causing Lentz to wince. They're back up. Big left hand for Dunham. Round over. 10-9 Dunham.

The fight is over. Lentz is bleeding badly from his eye and the doctor will not allow this to continue. Evan Dunham is your winner by doctor stoppage.

Final result: Evan Dunham via TKO (doctor's stoppage) at 5:00 of round two

Jon Olav Einemo vs. Mike Russow (265-pound limit)

Round one: Russow charges in like a bull, grabs a single leg and takes him to the ground. Einemo on his back working from the full guard. Russow trying to get his leg up and over, and gives up on it, standing up and backing away. Einemo lands a good knee. Russow ties him up right away. Einemo lands another knee and slips out. Einemo with the leg kick. Russow charges forward again and lands a few short punches, then ties him up. Einemo with a very hard knee to the midsection, then another. Einemo backs away. Russow shoots but gets nothing but a right hand to the head from Einemo. Russow throws a jab and then clinches up again. Knees from Einemo. Einemo slips out. Russow gets him down and is standing over him. He falls on top of Einemo, trying to get side control but Einemo pushes him back inside his full guard. Just under two minutes left. Einemo with several good short punches from the bottom that pop Russow's head back. Russow trying hard to get to side control but can't get his leg over. One minute to go. Russow landing sporadic punches to the ribs but doing little damage. Russow stands up but doesn't let Einemo get up. Russow dives to try and get side control, once more, but Einemo defends fantastically and keeps him in his guard. Very close round so far. Einemo reverses him and gets full mount right at the end of the round. Russow was very possibly saved by the horn. 10-9 Russow.

Round two: Einemo starts with a good jab. Russow rushes in and gets nailed with a few punches. Russow endures and gets the takedown, finding himself inside the full guard of Einemo again. Russow lands a decent elbow from the top. Now another elbow from Russow to the body. Russow trying to stand up and stack him but Einemo controls him with his legs. Russow is laying on him and using short punches to keep from being stood up. Einemo throws his legs up in a submission attempt, causing Russow to momentarily back out, Russow steps back but doesn't let Einemo back up completely. Russow, jumps back on top of him into half guard, trying to get his leg out to acquire side control. Just over two minutes left. Herb Dean calls for "work." Einemo lands a good punch to the head from his back. Very slow and plodding fight, thus far. -- Pause briefly while Russow is laying on top Einemo, doing nothing to point out just how fat and out of shape Russow looks. -- One minute left and Herb calls for work again. Einemo is bleeding from the nose now a bit, and Dean finally stands them up. Einemo lands a one two punch combo the head, but is taken down again, immediately. Round ends with Russow on top. Zzzzzz. 10-9 Russow.

Round three: Einemo's cornerman tells him: "You need to knock him out," as he leaves the corner. Interesting. Maybe true. Einemo with a good knee to the body. Russow goes for the single leg takedown and has to let it go as Einemo defends. Out of the clinch, Einemo lands a big right hand to the head. Now a big knee from Einemo. Russow takes all the punishment, though, and completes the takedown. Russow trying again for side control. Einemo with a good upkick. Russow back into the full guard, laying all his weight on him. Einemo very nearly reverses him and gets his back but looks too tired to finish the sweep, ending right back in the guard. Two minutes left. Russow lands a couple elbows from the top. Herb Dean stands them up. Einemo very slowly gets back to his feet. Einemo with the jab and then the knee. Einemo with another knee, but is taken down right afterwards. Einemo is breathing very heavily and looks like he just wants this fight to be over. Cant blame him. Russow continues to lay on him and do just enough to not get stood up. Einemo half-heartedly goes for an armbar as the round ends but doesn't even get close. Russow will surely get the decision nod, but he shouldn't expect any fight bonuses tonight. 10-9 Russow.

Final result: Mike Russow via unanimous decision

George Roop vs. Cub Swanson (145-pound limit)

Round one: Roop comes out with a big front kick to the body. Swanson throws a smattering of short punches but Roop avoids them all. Roop throws a jump front kick that only grazes the arm of Swanson. Roop pawing with the jab, coming forward. Roop ducks under a punch and lands an uppercut to the body. Roop misses with a kick to the head, but persists, coming forward throwing several other big kicks that land on the arm and ribcage. Swanson tries a wheelkick that misses badly, but he rushes back in and lands a good right hand that looks to have Roop staggered a bit. Under three minutes to go. Their tied up against the fence, with Roop having underhooks. Roop with a good kick to the body. Roop throws a couple punches and he runs in and finishes off the combo with a hard kick to the outside thigh. Roop with a good kick to the side of Swanson. Roop goes for a takedown but is reversed. Swanson on top now, working in the full guard of Roop. Swanson lets him up and the referee calls time for a mouthpiece replacement. Roop throws a switch kick that is partially blocked. Roop very active with the kicks, keeping Swanson at bay. Roop rushes forward and lands a few punches, but slips to his back. Swanson stacking him, trying to land some ground and pound, but he cannot quite get past Roop's long legs. They're back up and the horn sounds to mark the end of round one. 10-9 Roop.

Round two: Roop charges in throwing several punches. Swanson avoids but is still stuck in defensive mode. Roop with a hard outside leg kick. Swanson now cuts off the distance and lands a good right hand to the head, followed up with a good leg kick of his own. They tie up in the middle of the cage and exchange knees. Swanson with a good straight right hand to the body. Three minutes left. Roop definitely the more active of the two, never stopping with his combinations of hands and feet. Swanson with a jab, followed by several other punches. Seemingly out of nowhere! Roop is hurt in the exchange and Swanson jumps all over him! He's done! That's it! Roop left his chin exposed and got nailed with a huge overhand right. TKO victory for Cub Swanson!

Final result: Cub Swanson TKO (punches) at 2:22 of round two

Charles Oliveira vs. Eric Wisely (145-pound limit)

Round one: Oliveira with a good inside leg kick right away, then a front kick to the head that is partially blocked. Oliveira with another good leg kick. Oliveira throws a right hand followed by yet another leg kick. Oliveira with a good front kick to the body. Wiseley throws a kick that is caught and he now finds himself on his back with Oliveira having a hold of his leg. Oliveira hovers over top of him and jumps on a heel hook submission. Now he's going for a kneebar and Wisely is tapping! Wow! Really painful and brutal submission. Oliveira had taken his back, was rolling and torqued Wisely's leg back behind him to secure the finish. Great submission victory for Oliveira in his featherweight debut. Wisely is going to be limping tonight (and probably for a while).

Final result: Charles Oliveira via submission (kneebar) at 1:43 of round one

Michael Johnson vs. Shane Roller (155-pound limit)

Round one: Fighters look for the distance, throwing jabs but not landing. Roller shoots for the double leg takedown but Johnson sprawls. Johnson gets free and the action is back to the center. Roller fakes a right hand then backs out. Johnson charges forward and lands a good right hand to the body. Roller shoots again, but Johnson defends again, successfully. Johnson starting to pick Roller off now with quick short punches. Roller shoots again. Nothing doing. Roller ties him up against the fence, but is quickly reversed. Johnson is leaning on him against the fence as they both battle for position. The crowd is starting to boo in disapproval. Johnson works free and lands a good short punch to the head on the exit. Roller with a good knee to the body then shoots again, but Johnson gets his wist about him and defends. Roller grabs Johnson's neck as they go towards the fence but he's out quickly. Two minutes to go in the round. They tie up again. Johnson lands a good right hand to the head and slips out of the clinch. Roller shoots one more and is met with a sprawl and a left hand to the head. One minute left. The fighters are tied up against the fence again, and again, Johnson slips under lands a right hook to the head and escapes back to the center of the cage. Roller is getting worked in every category. He hasn't really been hurt by anything, but he's been completely unsuccessful in everything he's tried to do. Right at the end of the round, Johnson lands a hard knee to the body, followed by a crisp right hand to the forehead as the horn sounds. 10-9 Johnson.

Round two: Johnson comes out right away with a good one two punch combo then follows up with a kick to the body. Johnson with a big left hook that lands to the side of the head. They're tangled up again on the fence. Roller really is looking flustered, not knowing what to do. Back to center. Now Roller lands a good straight right hand to the head. They clinch up and Roller hits him with a knee to the body. They break free and Roller lands a right hand this time. Johnson answers with a stiff jab. Roller ties him up and takes him to the cage but is reversed with ease. Just under three minutes left. Johnson is leaning on him and the crowd boos once more. Roller drops to guard and Johnson comes right with him. Roller, working off his back, but he's taking punishment from Johnson, on top. Roller scoots toward the fence, and is able to sneak out and back up. Roller with a good right hand to the head. Roller ties him up and tries to get underhooks. Johnson circles and reverses him against the fence again. Just under a minute to go. Johnson with a good elbow, then he slips out and back to the middle of the cage. Johnson is unloading with punches. He throws a big combo and lands several good punches to the head. Roller drops, gets double underhooks and almost has his back, but Johnson is able to hold him off. The round ends with them tied up on the fence (a recurring theme in the fight). 10-9 Johnson.

Round three: Johnson throwing punches right away and lands a right. He follows with a straight left to the body. Johnson throws a multi-punch combo then ends it with a big kick. Roller shoots, gets Johnson down, and he's got his back! What a turn of events this would be! He flattens him out! He's going to town! Johnson isn't defending! This could be over soon! It seemed like it was over but -- no? Herb Dean steps in to caution against punches to the back of the head, stopping action, then allowing them to continue. Very weird. Back to action. Johnson is still in a very bad spot. Roller goes for the choke now. He's got the body lock sunk in and he's going for the rear naked choke. Johnson defending, holding on for dear life. Roller trying to soften him up with punches, still not giving up on the submission. Two minutes left. Roller doing everything he can to finish him but Johnson is patiently toughing it out. Johnson is able to finally slip out and roll over into top position. Roller controlling the head, and Johnson stands up. Johnson with several big shots and lands a low kick in the process. Roller given time to recover now. Back to the fight. These guys are throwing everything at each other as the final horn goes off. 10-9 Roller.

Final result: Michael Johnson via unanimous decision

Joey Beltran vs. Lavar Johnson (265-pound limit)

Round one: Beltran refuses to touch hands and gets right after it. Johnson lands first with a big right hand then clinches up against the fence and starts with the knees. Johnson leaning on him and is continuing to punish Beltran with knees to the body. Beltran answers with occasional knees that don't seem to be bothering his opponent. They're off the fence now and back to center. Beltran throws a lazy kick that misses everything and he already looks gassed. Beltran looks for a takedown but is reversed against the fence. Johnson with a powerful inside leg kick that has Beltran backing up. Johnson working the jabs now. Johnson with a big right straight hand to the body. Two and a half minutes left. Johnson snaps off two good quick jabs, backs away then comes in with several more jabs that have Beltran's head snapping back. Johnson has him pinned against the fence, wearing him down. Johnson pushes off, steps back and is working the jabs again. Johnson throws a big uppercut but misses. One minute left and Beltran throws a few quick punches, but again, nothing lands. Johnson lands another really good stuff jab. Johnson lands a huge combo! He's unloading! It's over! Lavar Johnson wins his UFC debut with huge KO victory over "The Mexicutioner!"

Final result: Lavar Johnson via KO (punches) at 4:24 of round one
