"Daddy's" coming home ... for good.
Former UFC lightweight title contender and recent featherweight debutant Joe Stevenson has been released by the UFC, according to MMAFighting.com.
The move comes on the heels of the biggest slump in the longtime veteran's career. After losing three in a row at 155-pounds, UFC brass gave him the opportunity to reinvent himself at 145-pounds.
Once he turned in another uninspired performance against Javier Vazquez this past June 26, it was only a matter of time before the hammer came swinging on down.
Stevenson joins a growing list of former Ultimate Fighter (TUF) winners to be released by the promotion, including recently exiled middleweight Kendall Grove.
But will he also be joining the Hawaiian in the recently revived ProElite? At just 29-years-old, it stands to reason the Greg Jackson product has plenty left in the tank. Stay tuned, Maniacs.
